Holi

Today was the Hindu festival of Holi.  Every year there is a large celebration in The Hague, and Marcel suggested I join him there on a photo outing.  We arranged to meet up at the main square… which sounded easy, and turned out to be impossibly difficult, given the huge crowds.

It took me a little while to get up the nerve to take out my camera and start photographing – people have never been my strong point.  But once I got going, I discovered just how happy people were to have their photo taken, and how eager many were to pose for me, possibly because they thought I was from one of the newspapers.  In the end I had a great time, even though I didn’t find Marcel, taking photos, chatting to people, and sampling the food.  Definitely a good way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon.
